About the club

Mercer Rowing Club is set on the Waikato River at Mercer, giving it excellent training water in each direction.

Established in 1909, the club has a proud tradition in rowing, having produced many international representatives over the decades, including a competitor at the 2008 Olympics. It currently has a number of ex-members in the elite training squad.  It is affiliated to New Zealand Rowing.

The schools that row out of Mercer are Pukekohe High School, Te Kauwhata College, Onewhero Area School and Tuakau College.  We also have a small but dedicated group of masters rowers.

Mercer's excellent training conditions are becoming recognised more and more by clubs and schools wanting to use the facilities for rowing camps. The clubrooms are available throughout the year for hire and include separate showers and toilet facilities, equipped kitchen and a large hall.

The Mercer Club Regatta is held annually on the first or second Saturday in December - the next regatta will be in December 2018. Check the rowIT website for dates and entry details. It is a popular friendly regatta with a reasonably demanding 1500m against the current - a good warmup for KR1. The Mercer Schools Regatta is usually jointly held by both Mercer Rowing Club and Counties Manukau Rowing Club in February. For detailed information on all New Zealand regattas and regatta results for both Mercer and other clubs see the rowIT website.

We would like to thank all our supporters and sponsors, including Foundation North (formerly the ASB Community Trust), Producers Trust, Trust Waikato, New Zealand Community Trust, the Four Winds Foundation, the Perry Foundation, Pub Charity, The Grassroots Trust, the Aotearoa Sports Foundation, and the Southern Trust. Without these gaming trusts we would  struggle to provide boats and other new equipment for our rowers and we greatly appreciate their support of the club over many years.

We also acknowledge the great support of Counties Manukau Sport.
